Professor Jan Muhammad, registrar, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), inaugurated a three-day Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course on providing treatments to victims of sudden cardiac arrests at CPSP on Wednesday, says a press release.
The training workshop, aimed at enhancing expertise in resuscitation science, is being held for the first time in Pakistan and being participated by 16 healthcare providers from all over Pakistan - mostly head of different hospitals and medical institutions.
Professor Jan Muhammad said the use of latest cardiovascular diseases, set out by American Heart Association (AHA) will significantly helped reduce the disability and death rate in Pakistan and would help prolong the life of cardiac patients.
A large number of patients are hospitalised every year with acute symptoms of heart failure and there were limited practice guidelines in the past for the emergency treatment of such patients. The training workshop being conducted at CPSP is expected to significantly improve the skills of healthcare providers in the area of cardiovascular diseases.
It may be mentioned that College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and Dallas-based American Heart Association had entered into a training agreement last year in terms of which the CPSP had agreed to provide training in emergency cardiovascular care in Pakistan, using the curricula and training materials of the American Heart Association.-PR
