PML-N President and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that focus of politics of PML-N encircles welfare and betterment of the masses and revolutionary programmes being introduced to upgrade the standard of life of the people of the province.
He said that gigantic Food Stamp Scheme was being launched at a cost of Rs 22 billion, which would be the biggest plan in the history for helping out poor, who live below the poverty line. He announced establishing girls college and hospital at Green Town and said the government would allocate huge funds for development in areas of PP-154, Lahore.
The chief minister expressed these views while talking to PML(N) office-bearers and workers at Model Town on Sunday as well as MNAs, MPAs, and officers were also present. He also listened to complaints in 'Khulli Kuttchery' in Model Town during the day. He heard complaints particularly of constituency PP-154.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Food Stamp Scheme would be solely for destitute, widows, unemployed and poor people and it would be ensured that only deserving people should benefit from it. He told that DCOs would scrutinise the lists for this scheme and elected representatives and DCOs would be responsible for transparency.
He said that wrong policies of the rulers of last 8.5 years ruined this state of Quaid-e-Azam and elite class plundered national exchequer as well as usurped the people's rights.
He said that all national institutions have been damaged and facing deterioration. He expressed determination to reform the system and said that they were optimistic about success with the help of the people. He said that economic destruction of the past was very much disgusting. He said that police authorities were helping the criminals, but present government would never tolerate such attitude and no one would be humiliated in police stations.
The chief minister averred that culture of injustice would be eliminated because if they did not provide justice, then they had no right to stay in government. He said that in the past, rulers remained in air-conditioned rooms and did only paper work, but now, they would go to door steps of the poor and solve their problems. He said in spirit of serving the masses they were visiting far-flung areas of Punjab, so that genuine problems could be dealt and resolved immediately.
While referring to his recent tour of Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiq Abad, Liaqatpur and Khanpur, he said that people were living in very miserable situation and there was no one to pay heed to their problems. He vowed that his government would provide health, education, employment and justice at their doorsteps.
Shahbaz Sharif said that in remote areas masses cannot record their protest and, therefore, he was reaching those places in person to hear to the grievances of villagers in rural areas.
The chief minister was given briefing on the occasion on decisions that were implemented in lieu of last Sunday's meeting with PML-N workers. He was informed that 120-kanal land was acquired in PP-153 on which Shahbaz Sharif said that out of this 100 kanal land should be allocated to graveyard and 20 kanal for playground.
He directed to commence immediately development work in this constituency. The PML-N office-bearers and workers of PPP-154 also apprised the chief minister about their problems on which Shahbaz Sharif issued instructions to the authorities concerned.
On this occasion, the chief minister also lauded the role of media. He said that media played role of eye and ears and stressed that media should support efforts of PML-N in making situation better.
