The Senior Provincial Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that the government is giving top priority to the promotion of school education has adopted holistic approach to provide necessary educational facilities in government schools. An amount of Rs2.50 billion has been reserved in this regard to provide missing facilities in government schools.
He was talking to a delegation of NGOs on Sunday. The Minister stated that government has approved to upgrade government schools on the basis of need and a sum of Rs1 billion has been reserved for the cause.
The move would facilitate the students to get education near to their doorsteps, he remarked. Describing the government's educational policy, the Senior Minister observed that concerted efforts are needed to provide education to all the students and the government is also striving to provide educational facilities especially to the girl students.
He said according to the policy, 560 girls middle schools will be upgraded to high level during the current fiscal year with a sum of Rs2 billion. Similarly, a grant of Rs1.91 billion has also been disbursed for uplifting 542 boy schools in Punjab.
Further, he referred to the government's initiatives said that it has decided to set up a state of the art rehabilitation centre for the benefit of especial children with Rs1 billion.
Additionally, Raja Riaz urged the NGOs to take benefit of the government's benevolent policies and spread their philanthropic activities in the remote hinterlands as well so that the villagers could also improve their lifestyle.
