Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob has said that all available resources and channels were being mobilised for the promotion of volleyball at gross root level in the country.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday evening at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) he added that in order to expand the sphere of volleyball game a strategy has been chalked out. The Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation further stated that special attention under the programme would be accorded on hunting the new players and strong base for the promotion of volleyball in the country.
Under the programme adequate efforts would be made for increasing the number of clubs aimed at tracing hiden talent of volleyball game in the country he said. Chaudhry Yaqoob said that we are endeavouring to prepare three teams National senior, junior and under 17 teams of volleyball adding that there is a great and hopefully talented young players would be traced out from various parts of the country.
The Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation was of the opinion that Sialkot was playing significant role in the promotion of game and keeping in view the contribution Sialkot city would be made Model Centre of volleyball game. Chaudhry Yaqoob further disclosed that most modern hall would also be constructed in Sialkot in collaboration with business community and philanthropists for the promotion of volleyball and other indoor games.
A "Coaching Centre" would soon be set up in Sialkot shortly where local and available International coaches would be trained the volleyball players on scientific and modern game lines he disclosed. He said that Sialkot was playing a pivotal role in producing national and international level players of volleyball and at present most of the players of the area are playing in national team.
Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob further said that the basic concept of these efforts was to prepare players of national and international standard and enabling them to play in Olympic and Asian games like other countries.
On this occasion he urged upon the print and electronic media to encourage the other players like cricket in their programmes. It was very unfortunate that all sponsors have focused their attention on cricket and ignoring the other international games like volleyball he was of the opinion. The Chairman Pakistan Volleyball Federation further added that due to the lack of funds other major games including volleyball are breathing lost in the country.
