Declaring Pakistan's commitment to peace process with India, Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said "divergences" can be addressed through dialogue process.
Addressing a press conference at Pakistan High Commission at the conclusion of talks with India this evening, he said Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues including just and permanent solution of Kashmir dispute through peaceful means.
To a question, he refuted allegation about Pakistan's involvement in Indian embassy attack, he said Pakistan has asked for substantial prove from India during the talks. Pakistan is ready to share information with India through anti-terrorism Mechanism established between both the countries.
Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack, he said adding Pakistan itself is also victim of terrorism. He said Pakistan does not want to involve in rhetoric and "it wants to leave behind past legacy of blame game." "Let the anti-terror mechanism to deliver," he added.
He said Pakistani side held "intense, productive and comprehensive" talks with Indian side to launch fifth round of Composite dialogue. Salman Bashir categorically declared Pakistan is a sovereign country and it has also evidence of incidents in Pakistan. But Pakistan wants to use Pak-India mechanism to share information with India. He referred to the incident of Smajhauta Express in this connection. Pakistan is engaged with international community to counter terrorism and extremism and similarly Pakistan is ready to share information with India on the terror incidents, he said.
He said Pakistan has "divergences" and "convergences" on issues with Pakistan. Pakistan is determined to deal gaps and misperceptions with India through dialogue process. "I want to leave message in India that Pakistan government, its political leadership and the people want to establish friendly relationship with India and wanted to remain committed to dialogue process for resolving outstanding issues. I hope India will response in the same spirit," he said.
He said in today's talks Kashmir and peace and security besides other matters came under discussion. When questioned on Kashmir, he said during talks some confidence Building Measures were endorsed to provide relief to Kashmiris. Pakistan wants to mitigate sufferings of Kashmiris. Pakistan is also endeavouring to resolve this issue according to wishes of Kashmiris, he added.
