The extensive campaign is still in full swing through launching of various mega development projects of public welfare by Azad Jammu and Kashmir government to bring the life back to the pre-quake era in the affected zone with the liberal financial assistance of the federal government.
The sources told newsmen here on Monday that 100 percent victims of the history's worst October 8, 2005 earthquake in AJK had so far been compensated with the financial relief by the government for their rehabilitation. Elaborating the broad-based phased reconstruction plan, the sources said that construction work of District Headquarter Muzaffarabad had almost near to completion.
Besides, the construction work of various educational institutions and the University is also in progress steadily in the worst quake-stricken capital Muzaffarabad as well as other affected districts of Neelam valley, Bagh, Rawalakot, and Sudhanoti districts.
Referring to the extensive plan for the restoration of means of communications in the affected areas, the sources pointed out that over 500 kilometres long highways and link roads were being constructed in the quake-hit districts by Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority (Erra). Most of the roads including Kohala-Muzaffarabad highway will be constructed with 24 feet in width and the hard shoulders at either side.
