Stock markets: Jama'at-e-Islami leader accuses past, present governments of patronising big fishes
Naib Amir of Jama'at-e-Islami, Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch has accused the previous and present rulers of patronising the big fishes of stock market, who were responsible for the crash of stock market recently and in 2005. Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Monday, he demanded of the government to take action against them.
He also said that the government had failed to provide relief in the 100 days, rather it increased the petroleum prices four times in 100 days. He said while the oil price in the international market the price of oil had dropped from 147 dollars per barrel to 131 dollars, the government had increased the prices.
He demanded of the government to abolish tax on diesel, because it was used in the agriculture sector and industry. He also criticised the government for increasing the prices of natural gas, which was the indigenous product of the country. He said that the present policies of the government were the continuation of the policies of the previous government.
He also announced to set up protest camps from July 25 at all district headquarters against the price-hike, operation in tribal areas and for the restoration of judiciary. He said that meeting of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) would be held on July 28 in Islamabad in which they would discuss their future plans. He demanded that the collation government should impeach President Pervez Musharraf because they had the majority in the parliament.
He also demanded of the government to stop military operation in tribal areas and try to solve the problem according to the wishes of the people. He said the Transparency International recently rated Pakistan among the most six corrupt nations in the world and in the list of 10 failed states in the world. He said the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) had caused an irreparable loss to the politics and democracy. "We will not support NRO.
A commission of parliamentarians should investigate the corruption cases made by previous Nawaz Sharif government and Pakistan Peoples Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari," he said. About the possible new political alignment of PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q, he said people of Pakistan were wise and they would not accept them. He said the collation government should take decisions according to the wishes of the people and according to the national interest.
