Pakistan has been chosen as the venue for Commonwealth books fair in 2009, the National Book Foundation (NBF) announced today. NBF has also been charge with the task of organising this event.
It also sought copies of published books from authors and publishers to be sent to NBF Islamabad headquarter offices at Islamabad, for awarding prizes for outstanding books published in the South Asian region.
NBF press officer Naeem Tariq explained to Business Recorder that the Commonwealth Foundation decides the venue for the Book Fair each year as well as Commonwealth Writer's Prize in May. The meeting of the Foundation held in South Africa in the last week of May decided to invite Pakistan to handle the next Books Fair in 2009.
