Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that situation in Karachi on Wednesday was much better even after 66 mm of rainfall as compared to previous years when main roads used to submerge in rain water for 20 days at a stretch and traffic gridlock occurred for hours.
However, this year municipal workers did not require any pumps or machines to drain out water from main roads and citizens found the city clean in the morning after heavy showers on Wednesday evening.
After a detailed visit to various areas, Mustafa Kamal said the rainwater stood drained out through storm water drains laid along all the main roads, flyovers, bridges and underpasses constructed during the last two-and-a-half years.
