Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Thursday said there is dire need of national reconciliation among political parties as well as people of the country. Addressing a press conference here, Imran Khan said Pakistan was created in the name of justice to become a welfare state.
Tariq Nizami announced at the press conference his decision to quit the Pakistan People's Party Patriot group and join the PTI. Niazami was in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the past. Imran Khan welcomed him to the party, saying his decision to joint PTI would prove to be a correct step.
Khan said PTI would organise a public meeting on August 14 in Islamabad, which would prove a "milestone" for sovereignty of the country. Referring to recent strikes on inside Pakistani territory from across the border in Afghanistan, he urged the government to formulate a policy to stop such incidents in future in order to protect the country's sovereignty.
He said the major issues including the situation in tribal areas of NWFP should be discussed in the Parliament to find out a consensus solution. To a question, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said issues pertaining to the tribal areas can only be resolved through talks instead of force.
He said the future of coalition is linked with the reinstatement of deposed judges as demanded by most political parties as well as the people of the country. In reply to a question about the tribal areas, Imran demanded a probe into breaching of peace agreements signed several times with the tribal leadership. To another question, he said his stand regarding MQM leader Altaf Hussain remains unchanged.
