The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of a leave petition filed by the Employees Union of Javed Press against order dated May 30, 2008 of the Sindh High Court wherein the Court has stayed the ITNE to take any coercive action against the APNS member petitioners.
Thus the injunction granted by the Sindh High Court, challenged in the leave petition remained intact. The leave petition No 884 of 2008 came up for hearing on July 31, 2008 in the Supreme Court wherein the senior legal counsel, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada and Afzal Siddiqui appeared for APNS members.
The Supreme Court desired that the High Court may dispose of the APNS constitutional petition No 1151 of 2007 as expeditiously as possible and the government has been directed to file its comments in the Sindh High Court within two weeks. The Sindh High Court will proceed the case as already fixed for August 28, 2008.-PR
