Railways will facilitate 0.5 million passengers this Eid: Saad
LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced on Sunday that the railway system would facilitate more than 0.5 million travelers during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Addressing in Lahore, the minister asserted that the Pakistan Railways have regained the trust of people, as evident from the increased number of passengers to fifteen million per annum, according to The Nation.
He said the quotas would be reserved for women, passengers with special needs and senior citizens in train schedules, exclusively during Eid holidays.
He announced that tickets with 33 percent reduced prices would be available on both the windows and advance bookings, according to local media.
Additional coaches will also be appointed on stations to manage the overwhelming flow of passengers during Eid vacations.
Connecting people with their loved ones is a virtuous deed and a sacred responsibility which the railway system is determined to fulfill with utmost dedication, he added.
