Boys outwit girls in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examinations as students of Military College Sarai Alamgir (MCSA) Jhelum topped the SSC examinations of Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE), as all three positions have gone to this college.
Secretary RBISE, Professor Humayun Iqbal announced the results here on Friday in a function held at Divisional Public School. Kamran Michael, Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights was chief guest while Chairman RBISE, Professor Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Baig presided over the ceremony. Total 115602 students appeared in the SSC Examination and the ratio of pass students was 53.86 percent. Some 62185 candidates passed the examination while 53417 failed.
Anis-ur-Rehman (Roll No 1112159), student of Military College Sarai Alamgir has topped the examination with 800 marks while Muhammad Adnan (112182) of the same institution with 799 marks stood second and Roshan Saleem Butt (112172) of with 795 marks got third position.
In Science group girls first position was grabbed by Shanza Nazish roll no 114701 of Fauji Foundation School Kahuta grabbed 789 marks, while second has won by Saba Arshad roll no 116851 of DPS Rawalpindi taking 788 marks and third position achieved by Amara Naseem roll no 091017 of Govt High School Talagang taking 787 marks.
In General Group boys Muhammad Muzamil Sabir roll no 136820 of Workers Welfare Model School Rawalpindi with 716 marks stood first, Haq Nawaz (187146), a private candidate with 699 marks second while another private candidate Danish Raza by getting 676 marks.
In General group Girls Aqsa Mushtaq (120558) of MC Girls School Rawalpindi with 741 marks was declared as first while Tahoora Anmol (117136) of Govt Girls High School Rawalpindi with 739 marks stood second and Sadaf Naheed (111581) of Govt Islamia Girls High School Jehlum 738 marks stood third.
As many as 58247 candidates (male 30671 and female 27576) have appeared in the examinations as regular out of which 40276 (Male 19476, Females 20800) have passed with 69.53 percent (male 63,9 and female 75.77).
In Science group regular 34064 (22817 male and 11247 females) have appeared out of which 25556 (16143 male and 9413 female) have passed with 75.14 percent (male 70.92 and female 83.69). In General Group regular 23936 (7730 male and 16206 female) candidates have appeared out of which 14720 (3333 male and 11387 female) have passed with 61.54 percent (43.2 male and 70.27 female).
Total private candidates appeared in the examination were 57602 (35436male and 22166 female) out of which 21909 (10718 male and 11191female) have passed with 38.08 percent. According to grading scheme of the RBISE, candidates with marks from 680 to 850 are in A+, 595 to 679 in A grade, 510 to 594 in B grade, 425 to 509 in C grade, 340 to 424 in D grade and minimum passing marks to 339 are in E grade.
The RBISE had set up 354 centres in the Rawalpindi division to hold the SSC examination of 2008 out of which 50 were in Attock District, 70 in Chakwal, 51 in Jhelum and 183 in Rawalpindi.
Provincial minister for Human Rights & Minority Affairs Kamran Micheal distributed medals and awards among position holders. The Minister congratulated the position holders and announced special incentive for them on the behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Chief Minister had announced special stay for position holders in Punjab House Murree in the chief minister suit for three to four days. Director General Protocol Government of Punjab had been ordered to provide VIP protocol to these students during their stay.
Addressing the gathering the minister said that government was eager to provide multiple facilities to students and teachers in the province for better future of the nation. He said that only an educated nation could follow the human rights as the education was supposed to provide sense to every one in the society.
