The Board of the Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore has announced the results of the Matriculation Annual examination 2008 here on Friday, showing a pass percentage of 52.81. As many as 112,782 out of total 213,564 passed the matriculation annual examination, while the overall pass percentage remained 52.81.
The results were announced at a ceremony, organised by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) at Alhamra. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest while acting Chairman of BISE Maqsood Mumtaz; Secretary Haji Muhammad Dogar, Controller of Examinations Professor Manzur-ul-Hassan Niazi; Secretary, School Education Department, Nadeem Ashraf, and Higher Education Department Secretary Arifa Saboohi were also present on the occasion.
According to the results, overall first position was achieved by Noman Khadam of National Model High School for Boys, Hiran Minar Road, Sheikhupura, by securing 815 marks out of 850, while Muhammad Awais of Pakistan Model High School for Boys, Raiwind Road, Kasur, with 813 marks stood second. The third position was shared by two students, Hafiz Muhammad Saleem and Hafiz Furqan Malik, as both secured 811 marks.
In the Science group (boys), Noman Khadam stood first, Muhammad Awais second, while Hafiz Muhammad Saleem and Hafiz Furqan Malik shared third position. In Science Group (girls), Ifra Rafaqat achieved first position by securing 809 marks, while Izzah Javed and Anam Tanveer shared second position, obtaining 807 marks each.
The third position in this group was also shared by two students, Maryam Shahid and Hafsa Siddiqi, as both secured 806 marks each. Azeemullah with 747 marks, Muhammad Zohaib Shafi 743 and Hafiz Shahzad Ali remained first, second and third respectively in the Humanities Group (boys) while Ayesha Nadeem Butt 793 marks, Sahrish Ghulam Rasool 787 and Hifza Qasim with 785 marks were toppers in the Humanities Group (girls).
