Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sherry Rahman has said that purpose of Prime Minister's visit to US would further broaden bilateral relations between US and Pakistan, beyond security and military issues. Talking to a private news channel, she said the Biden-Lungar bill of about $15 billion as economic aid for the people of Pakistan is a major success of this visit.
She said the Prime Minister held successful meetings with the members of US Senate and Congress, "and our discussions with the US officials were productive". To a question, she said "I had meeting with the officials of health, who expressed their desire to visit Pakistan to promote bilateral relations between the two countries, besides transfer of technology and imparting training. Such terms between the two countries would prove useful in the long run".
We'll have to think about situation at borders where there is an activity and volatility, as regard the government, it will not collapse on the basis of such things, she added.
The minister said that Pakistan was co-operating in every field with international community. She said that Pakistan wanted cordial and peaceful relations with Afghanistan. A stable and strong Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan, "and we should take the decisions in the interest of Pakistan, rather than taking decision on emotional bases".
She added that coalition government is a new democratic experiment for Pakistan and we should not be worried about this government. All coalition partners demonstrated sagacity throughout the period. Two arch rival parties are working jointly.
As regard Nawaz League, they will take decisions in the interest of the nation and with consensus. The masses voted them on February 18, for strengthening the country and bringing stability, she added. She said that there's always time for a political reconciliation, "we inherited politics of reconciliation from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, she was a lady of great vision and ideology, all political parties should realise that what the country needs today", she added.
