Different Bar Association of Multan have criticised the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) led government for failing to address people's grievances and the issue of deposed judges.
Former Vice Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council, Mehmood Ashraf Khan, President High Court Bar Multan, Rana Naveed Ahmed, General Secretary, District Bar Multan, Najaf Ali Chauhan and President, Muhammad Ashraf Sindhu called to form a national government under nuclear scientist, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan that could solve people's problem.
The bar members in separate statements issued on Sunday favoured construction of Kalabagh dam in the larger national interest. They accused certain political parties of materialising their own interest instead of serving the national cause.
They said, the country currently was facing a number of serious challenges including food crisis that has set the poor to starve but the government was apathetic to help them survive.
The lawyers also said price-hike was never so glaring as it was today and the government has completely failed to control the law and order situation and economic crisis being faced by the masses. Further, they said that instead of fighting against public woes, the rulers were exploiting the situation to make money meant for people's welfare.
Mehmood Ashraf Khan called for restoring the system of magistracy end the local government system terming it inefficient. Further, he blamed the local government system for contributing to the present skyrocketing prices of daily commodities putting the poor on additional financial constraint.
