'Government introducing far-reaching reforms in social sector'

The Punjab government is introducing far-reaching reforms in social sector for the regeneration of existing resources so that maximum targets could be achieved for the provision of better education, health and sanitation facilities to the masses.
Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Neelam Jabbar Chuadhry said here on Tuesday that the government has decided to educate the common man about the hazardous aspects of communicable and non-communicable diseases. In this regard, she said the government has already asked the political and social workers as well as medical community to teach the common man about the preventable measures so as to protect them from diseases.
While talking to delegations of social workers, medical community and LHWs, Neelam assured that government would support educational institutions and NGOs for holding awareness campaigns for the benefit of people.
She said that a special anti-polio campaign has been launched in selected districts of the province. Therefore, the community leaders specially the LHWs as well as Ulema must come forward to create awareness among general public against polio and to persuade the parents for the administration of polio drops to their children up to the age of 5 years in respective districts. She said that present government has enhanced the budgetary allocations for education and health sectors so that mega projects could be started.
