The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Nasir Khan Durrani has ordered the immediate registration of criminal cases against two police officers of the Waris Khan Police Station for registering bogus narcotics cases, while also suspending three constables for corruption.
During a surprise visit to the Waris Khan Police Station, the RPO found that Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ashraf and Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hanif did not deposit the case property of narcotics to the Malkhana. The RPO asked the DSP Waris Khan to hold an inquiry, but the two officials failed to deposit the narcotics, Durrani thus ordered the registration of criminal case against them.
The RPO also took notice of a complaint lodged by Zahoor Hussain of Dhok Ratta saying that three police officials of Gunjmandi put him in illegal confinement and extorted money and a mobile phone from him. The RPO directed the SSP Investigation to hold an inquiry after which police officials were found guilty. The guilty police officials returned the money and phone to the citizen, leading him to withdraw the case. Despite this, the RPO suspended the three constables namely Nasir Ali, Faisal Rafique and Asif Mehmood.
