Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Sayed Zahid Hussain while disposing of a suo motu proceeding relating to an appeal of a lady doctor seeking directions to the family court for early disposal of her case. As an interim relief the chief justice has directed her husband to pay Rs 2500 for each child till disposal of the case.
Chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the matter on a news item, said her husband had not given any maintenance allowance for 8 years and had forced her two sons to leave his house. She said Sialkot civil judge had also ordered her husband to pay maintenance allowance but he challenged the decision before the LHC in 2006. LHC had granted him stay and the case is pending since then. She said her husband had contacted another marriage without her permission and she was hardly meeting both ends.
