Civil Line Police on Friday arrested recently reinstated Deputy Director Agriculture (Audit and Accounts) Water Management Wing Punjab Muhammad Tahir Faizi for issuing a Rs 1.95 million bogus cheque. According to prosecution, the accused fraudulently obtained money from complainant of FIR 604/09 Police Station, Civil lines on the pretext of getting purchased of a residential plot.
Even after a lapse of several years, neither he got purchased plot nor he returned the money but issued a bogus cheque of a dormant account, which was non-operational since a long.
It may be mentioned here that accused Muhammad Tahir who was earlier dismissed from service on corruption charges is still facing serious charges of bouncing of millions of rupees cheques in FIR 484/07 Police Station New Muslim Town and preparation of forged property documents in FIR 103/08.
Earlier, both of them were arrested by Civil Line Police in FIR 103/08 and pre-arrest bail of Muhammad Tahir Faizi was cancelled in FIR 484.07. Show cause notices have been served on DSP Rana Muhammad Azeem and Inspector Rafiq Ahmad for conducting defective investigation favouring the influential accused in FIR 484/07.
