Death anniversary of Begum Raa'na Liaquat being observed
KARACHI: The 27th death anniversary of Begum Raa'na Liaquat Ali Khan, founder of All Pakistan Women's Association (APWA) and wife of first prime minister of Pakistan, is being observed on Tuesday.
A delegation of APWA led by its president Ayesha Javeri visited the grave of the Begum Liaquat Ali Khan located within the precincts of Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha.
Qurain Khawani was organized at the APWA Centres on the occasion, it was further stated.
An APWA statement here on Monday said that her efforts were to serve the women of Pakistan through health, education and training centres.
There are centres of APWA all over the country as well as abroad, it was further pointed out.
An APWA statement said that she was a great lady who worked hand in hand with her husband during the Pakistan Movement.
Begum Raa'ana Liaquat Ali Khan also served Pakistan as an Ambassador and as the Governor of Sindh.
She was conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Grand Cross of Orange Nassau Women of the World, The President Della Republica Roma, Royal Tropical Institute, Award Siracuba, Italy and First International Gimbel Award.
She was also given UN Human Rights Award.
