Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Secretary General Overseas Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood has said that not only impeachment but trial of Pervez Musharraf is also essential in view of the losses he inflicted to the nation by his misdeeds and misadventures.
Mehmood said here on Tuesday that charge sheet prepared by ruling coalition against Pervez Musharraf contains serious allegations against him with solid proofs. He said ruling coalition's move for impeachment of Pervez Musharraf is in fact part of struggle initiated by democratic forces to restore undiluted democracy in the country.
He said all democratic forces are in support of impeachment of Pervez Musharraf. "Q-league assembly members also wanted to cast their votes in favour of impeachment to atone for their sins of supporting dictatorial forces in the past", he said. He said the impeachment move is not against a person but a system against which people voted in last elections.
"As long as Pervez Musharraf is in the President House, supremacy of parliament and rule of law cannot be ensured", he said. He said elected representatives have never supported Pervez Musharraf and he cannot even think of seeking a vote of confidence from the parliament. He said Q-League members are also showing cold shoulder to Musharraf and he (Musharraf) is not in a position to either defeat impeachment motion or use 58-2B.
