General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Thursday hosted reception for senior serving and retired Armed Forces Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers at Artillery Officers Mess as part of Independence Day Celebrations here. General Abdul Waheed (Retd), Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Basalat was chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, General Ashfaq Kayani said Pakistan Army is the guarantor for peace, stability and integrity of the country. He said in current circumstances, when Pakistan Army is facing serious challenges of its time, contribution of retired soldiers has been exemplary. Army, as well as the nation is proud of them.
He said retired officers, JCOs and NCOs are pioneers who had set high standards in command, bravery, dedication, commitment, discipline and above all professionalism; which have acquired this exalted place for Army. Chief of Army Staff mixed freely with guests. He met retired officers, men present, inquired about their health, welfare and exchanged views on various issues. The reception was attended by large number of senior serving and retired officers, JCOs and NCOs.
