Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Sussi Palejo has said that Pakistan is rapidly heading towards real democracy because of the great scarifies rendered by Pakistan Peoples Party's leaders and workers. She added that it would take very little time for Pakistan to emerge as one of Asia's leading countries.
Palejo was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Freedom Fighters Gallery at the Sindh Museum Hyderabad to mark Pakistan's 62nd Independence Day. After inaugurating the gallery, she addressed those gathered for the ceremony, saying that the purpose of this gallery is to pay tribute to the heroes of the independence struggle and to make younger generations aware of the history of Pakistan.
She said that Sindh had contributed a lot and rendered numerous scarifies for the independence of Pakistan, saying this was shown at the gallery. The minister added that the leaders of Sindh rendered sacrifices for their homeland without discrimination on the basis of colour, cast or creed and that future generations need to remember this lesson. Palejo announced that more galleries would be established at the Sindh Museum and would be air-conditioned and decorated to showcase the rich culture of Sindh.
Earlier, while talking to the media, she said that her department was working to gain administrative control of all archaeological sites in the province from the federal government in order to preserve them. Palejo said that 135 sites have been identified and that she plans to visit Islamabad to negotiate with other stakeholders.
She said that Mohen-Jo-Daro was a great asset to Sindh, Pakistan and the world and affirmed that it should be preserved and protected at any cost. The Secretary Culture and Tourism Shams Jafrani was also present as well as MPA Farheen Mughal Acting President PPP Hyderabad. Amanullah Siyal, Mir Fateh Talpur, Sanam Talpur and Khan Muhammad Sehto also addressed the occasion.
