Rich tributes were paid to Baba-i-Urdu, Molvi Abdul Haq, on his 47th death anniversary observed on Saturday. Qura'an Khawani was held at his Mazar here and 'Fateha' was also offered. The president of Anjuman Taraqi-e-Urdu Pakistan, Aftab Ahmed Khan, and Secretary, Dr Jamiluddin Aali, laid a floral wreath at the mazar and offered Fateha.
They also recalled the services of Molvi Abdul Haq for the promotion and cause of Urdu language. It was also pointed out that Molvi Abdul Haq had also devoted his entire life for Anjuman Taraqi-e-Urdu, which was formed in the year 1903 and had served the organisation as its general secretary since 1912 up to his demise on August 16, 1961.
Dr Aali said that Molvi Abdul haq had rendered immense sacrifices for the promotion of the Urdu. He said that establishment of Urdu university was a dream of Molvi Abdul Haq which was realised in the year 2003. Dr Aali said that organisations such as Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban and Urdu Dictionary Board also came in to being because of the movement of Molvi Abdul Haq. Aftab Ahmed Khan said that Urdu is the fifth most popular language in the world. He paid rich tributes to Molvi Abdul Haq for his immense services for the cause of Urdu.
