Cotton standardisation fee recovery suspended: PCGA hails government decision
The Ministry of Commerce has suspended recovery of standardisation fee of Rs 5 per bale on the demand of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) and issued a notification on Saturday in this regard. PCGA chairman Muhammad Akram has hailed the government's decision to suspend the fee.
He said that ginners had called off their nine days' strike on August 9 after successful dialogues with Textiles Ministry Secretary and Member, FBR, and allowed the ginners to start functioning as their working licences were restored forthwith.
He said, "We have achieved our objective as the government listened to our point of view patiently and properly." He said, "PCGA's demand to waive standardisation fee at the rate of Rs 5 per bale and withholding tax were accepted, and FBR has assured that it would not impose refundable tax on the ginners, and similar facilities would be given as are permissible for textile mills."
