A major flood surge of 55,000 cusecs passed by from Head Sulemanki in Sutlej, while the flood-warning centre said that yet another flood onrush of similar magnitude is expected to pass through Head Sulemanki in next 8/10 hours, while the administrations at Vehari and Bhawalpur put on high alert have geared up safety measures.
Flood waves passing by Head Sulemanki heading towards Vehari, while the Vehari District Administration has put all the departments and police throughout the district on high alert and the villages likely to be hit by the floods were being evacuated, but the people thus far seemed reluctant. Vehari District administration said that in case of flood 159 villages might be affected.
Floods in Sutlej River have hit scores of villages in the districts of Kasur and Okara, as standing crops on hundreds of acres of land were washed away.
Army soldiers equipped with the boats and relief materials have arrived at the Baseerpur flood-hit areas of Okara, while Okara DPO Ehsan Sadiq said that the police have set up relief camps at places likely to be hit by the onrushing floods.
Kasur's Tehsil Kanganpur habitats Mararkay and Perogai are also inundated. Water level at Gandasingh has once again started rising, while low flood exists in Kanganpur. In Bhawalpur fearing floods, villagers along side the river have been asked to evacuate and a flood control room has been set up in the DCO office. The Sadiqabad administration has also set up relief camp for the shifting of people from Machka village due to floods at Guddu in Indus.
