HAMBURG: A group of Israeli private buyers bought corn and feed wheat to be sourced from optional origins in a tender that closed on Tuesday, European traders said on Wednesday.

The group made no purchase of feed barley, which it also sought.

The tonnage bought was unclear but some traders estimated that about 100,000 tonnes of corn were bought in two 50,000 tonne consignments, plus 30,000 tonnes of feed wheat in two 15,000 tonne consignments.

The tender had sought up to 85,000 tonnes of corn, 30,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 20,000 tonnes of feed barley for a range of shipment periods between August and October, depending on origin selected.

The corn was bought in two consignments, one at around $176 a tonne c&f for August shipment and the other at about $177.75 per tonne c&f for September shipment, traders said.

The feed wheat was bought in two consignments at about $177 a tonne c&f for August shipment and around $178 per tonne c&f for September shipment.

In the last reported purchase by an Israeli consortium on April 27, a group of private buyers bought about 70,000 to 80,000 tonnes of corn, around 30,000 tonnes of feed wheat and about 20,000 tonnes of barley.
