In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani has strongly condemned the economic blockade enforced by the Hindu fanatics in Jammu. In a statement, EJAC has also paid rich tributes to those martyred by the Indian troops' indiscriminate firing in the recent peaceful agitation, KMS reported.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Municipal Employees Union President Haji Bashir Ahmad has described the blockade a manifestation of criminal thinking of the Jammu Hindu fascists. He said unexpected situation forced people onto the roads to register their protest in a peaceful manner, but they were met with brute force by the trigger-happy troops, which killed dozens of innocent people.
He said, "the puppet authorities gave free hand to rioters to suppress the Muslim community in Jammu, while Indian troops in Kashmir Valley showered bullets on the peaceful protesters." Meanwhile, thousands of people including women and children took to the streets at Thanamandi, Mendhar, Poonch and Rajouri to express solidarity with Kashmiris.
Protestors said they were protesting against the economic blockade of Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists and killing of the unarmed Kashmiri protesters by Indian troops. Addressing a gathering, Hurriyet leader, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that if thhe blockade doesn't end people would be forced to march towards the Poonch-Rawlakote road. The other speakers expressed sympathies with the people of Kashmir and expressed solidarity with them.
