Punjab Assembly's Speaker, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, chairing the eighth session of the Assembly, here on Wednesday stressed that the ruling coalition should shed the differences for the sack of greater national interest. He emphasised that ruling coalition and opposition need to develop co-ordination and mutual understanding to settle down all issues of national concerned.
He added that provincial government should ensure provision of equal quota to the minorities as well as opposition under the Food Stamp Scheme. During the session two resolution one pertaining to condemnation of killing of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), along with 23 others and other related to bomb blast in Dera Ismail Khan hospital, were unanimously passed by the Assembly.
He said that law for abiana with relation to area of production would be introduced. During the session, on an Adjournment motion by MPA Sh Allaudin, the Law Minister, said that there had been misappropriation witnessed in a property deal Punjab Liquidation Board and now all auctions of the Board would be transparent.
Food Minister, Nadeem Kamran on the occasion informed that Rs 5.20 billion payments had already been made by sugar mill owners to the farmers, while remaining Rs 800 million amount would be paid shortly. In the House, a Privilege motion by MPA Nighat Nassir Sheikh, regarding misbehaviour of police officer with her, was kept in pending by the Chair.
On a question on Livestock and Dairy Development Minister, Iqbal Channar, responding to a query said that there were 24 veterinary hospitals and 26 veterinary centres in District Lahore. On a question regarding quantity of animal farms under provincial government control in Punjab, the minister said they were 22 in number. Later, due to lack of quorum the Speaker prorogued the House indefinitely.
