The profit after tax of Unilever Pakistan Limited has increased to Rs 1,280.745 million in the half year period ended June 30, 2008 as compared to Rs 862.041 million earned in the corresponding period in 2007. The company's earning per share surged to Rs 96.34 in the period under review against Rs 64.85 in the same period last year.
The board of directors of the company at its meeting held here on Thursday recommended an interim dividend of Rs 66 per ordinary share of Rs 50 ie 132 percent. This will be payable to members on the number of ordinary shares held by them at the close of business on September 22, 2008.
According to the financial results, the company's sales increased to Rs 14.831 billion in the half year period in 2008 against Rs 11.595 billion in the same period last year. On the other hand, the cost of sales also increased to Rs 9.488 billion in this period against Rs 7.071 billion in the same period last year.
Distribution costs increased to Rs 2.824 billion against Rs 2.602 billion. The profit before tax of Unilever increased to Rs 1,877.319 million in the first half of 2008 as compared to Rs 1,334.542 million in the same period last year.
