Noted Urdu poet, critic, playwright, essayist, columnist and scholar Jamiludin Aali shares his views with Aaj Online Exclusive in a recent interview. He expresses his concerns over the current political turmoil in the country. He is equally concerned at the future of Urdu language. Expressing his views about the national language he believes that the future of Urdu is in danger now.
About his most famous patriotic song "jeevy jeevy Pakistan", he says he wrote the song in 1970 elections when people were chanting 'Jeay Sindh', 'Jeay Punjab', 'Jeay Balochistan', 'Jeay Sarhad' slogans. He praises new poets and unfolds the story behind establishing Urdu University. According to him, he has received numerous awards but the most prestigious award for him are national awards such as the President's Pride of performance and Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
He talks about his wishes, his achievements and the incidents engraved on his mind. He is the honorary secretary of Anjuman 'Taraqi-e-Urdu' since 1962 and has published more than 300 books and several dictionaries.
