The government has re-constituted ten-member National Finance Commission (NFC) for the award of distribution of resources from the federal divisible pool. Minister for Finance, Revenues and Economic Affairs Syed Naveed Qamar will head the commission.
The other members are Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Hina Rabbani Khar, provincial finance ministers, four technocrats including Senator Haji Adeel from NWFP, Gulfaraz Ahmad from Balochistan, Kaiser Bengali from Sindh and Saeed Ahmad Qureshi from Punjab. Minister for Finance, Revenues and Economic Affairs while talking to media persons at Parliament House said the Commission will soon hold a meeting.
He said notification for re-constitution of 7th NFC is being issued separately. With the change of the government, NFC was required to be reconstituted and Federal Finance Minister approached provincial chief ministers for fresh nomination of non-statutory members for this purpose.
The government of Sindh nominated Kaiser Bengali in place of Nazar Muhammad, Shaikh, Government of NWFP appointed Haji Muhammad Adeel in place of Dr Muhammad Zubair Khan. Government of Balochistan recommended Dr Gulfaraz Ahmad in place of Senator Saeed Ahmad Hashmi. The government of Punjab reconfirmed the nomination of Saeed Ahmad Qureshi.
