Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Jhangir Badr addressing a press conference here on Friday said that there was transition of democracy going in the country and election of Asif Ali Zardari to the slot of president of Pakistan would complete a chapter of it.
He said that his party had never denied reinstatement of judges including that of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and they would stand by their promises in this regard.
The PPP Secretary General talking of relations with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said that they had very higher respect for Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and would maintain their relations with him and his party. Referring to lawyers movement the Secretary General said that any movement in the country should bear some moral ethics in its campaign.
He said they had respect for the movement including that of Chaudhry Aitizaz Ahsan whom he considers as his teacher, he added. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretary General Jhangir Badr averring his views on political scenario said that it was through sagacity of their leadership supported by strength of masses that through public opinion a dictator had left his reign.
Jhangir on the occasion disclosed that their party Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari had offered to Nawaz Sharif to become Prime Minister, which he declined, he told. The Secretary General dilated that struggle was still going on between forces of non-believers of democracy and one who believed in that.
He said that Pakistan Peoples Party had been proved true in democracy and would stand committed to the cause of masses even in future. Ghulam Abbas Secretary General PPP Punjab was also present on the occasion.
