Awami Muslim League president and former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has expressed grave concern on the country's economic situation and feared that Pakistan would become bankrupt within two months, if the country fails to get any foreign assistance.
Talking to newsmen in Lahore, Sheikh Rashid said that the country was facing very difficult situation and the need of the hour is to pay due attention to revive the country's economy. He claimed that the country's political scene may take a new turn after the presidential poll. He said that country's situation is more important than the presidential election.
Sheikh Rashid said with tug of war between two main political parties, there would be more negative effects on the country's economy. He said the last political battle would be in the Punjab. He further said that if Asif Ali Zardari becomes head of the state he would be the country's most powerful president. Answering a question, he said restoration of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry is not possible. However, all the other deposed judges could be restored.
