The DIG Investigation, Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera has issued ordered termination of an Inspector and demotion of two other Inspectors on charges of corruption, dereliction of duty, illegal detention of a citizen and failure to control crimes in their area.
According to details, the DIG Investigation issued orders for removal from service of former SHO Icchra, Inspector Saleem Ullah Khan for illegal detention of a citizen and receiving Rs 95, 000 as bribe.
A jeweller of Icchra, Muhammad Tahir lodged a complaint that some police officials came to his shop on April 30 took him to Icchra police station where he was presented before Inspector Saleem Ullah and was detained in the lockup. After some time when his brother and relatives reached Icchra police station, Inspector Khan demanded Rs 2 lakh for the release of Tahir and threatened to kill him in a fake police encounter if they did not comply.
Later, the Inspector released the complainant after extracting Rs 95, 000 from his family as bribe. Sukhera wrote in this decision that allegations have been proved against Inspector Saleem Ullah Khan and according to earlier record, he has already been removed from service due to inefficiency and misconduct.
Therefore, he is being removed from the service. Further, on a report of SSP Operations, the DIG he ordered demotion of former SHO Sattokatla, Inspector Irfan Akbar Butt and SHO Shadbagh, Inspector Abdul Shakoor for dereliction of duty and failure to control crimes in their respective areas.
