The DCO Hyderabad, Ali Ahmed Lund has said that the issue of flour supply at the government's fixed rate, has been permanently resolved. He said that the monthly wheat quota of Hyderabad district has been increased up to 2, 15,716 bags from government of Sindh to meet the demand.
He was presiding over the meeting of District Price Control Committee at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad. The DCO informed the meeting that release of wheat to the mill and Atta Chakki owners, has been started according to their due quota at the rate of Rs 1932 per bag. The mills management have been bound to sale the flour at Rs 22 per Kg as ex-mill price and Rs 23.50 per Kg as retail price.
While Chakki owners were asked to sale flour at the rate of Rs 23.50 per Kg as ex-Chakki and Rs 24.50 per Kg as retail price. Lund also said that in order to ensure proper flour supply in the market, 40 flour-selling stalls were being installed in the district where 10Kg flour bags would be available at the cost of Rs 220.
Further, keeping in view the advent of Holy month of Ramzan, the district government Hyderabad has also released the price list of kitchen items that was prepared in consultation with the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (HCCI) and other wholesales and retailers associations.
The DCO was dissatisfied over the performance of market committee and directed the DDOs Revenue to use special judicial powers to ensure the circulation/distribution of price list among the shopkeepers.
He further asked to display at least 100 banners prices of essential and main edible items written on them in the market for consumers' interest. The DCO said that the price list of kitchen items would be published in leading newspapers and would be communicated to the consumers through cable network.
The management of Utility Store Corporation, following the decision of last meeting, was opening seven new stores to ensure its availability at each UC and supply of edible items as per demand. While talking about the fixation of the fruit prices, Lund informed the meeting that fruit prices would be fixed jointly by representatives from merchants, revenue and TMA Latifabad on daily basis.
He ordered Revenue Magistrates to be vigilant and conduct surprise visits to the markets and to take strict action against the profiteers. Lund said Ramzan Bachat Bazar would be installed at each taluka where essential commodities would be made available at concession rates.
Hyderabad MNA, Salahuddin stressed upon the District Management for launching effective awareness programme in such a way so that the shopkeepers could not sale their commodities at high price.
He suggested to call the meeting of District Price Control Committee on weekly basis, putting strict vigilance over the quality of edible items; adulteration and hoarding practices, issuance of wheat quota on merit, launching awareness among the consumers through Pena flex banners, advertisements and cable network.
MPA Akram Adil said that the actual reasons of high prices be identify prior taking action against the shopkeepers, besides proper implementation on the decision of the committee should be made in the letter and spirit. Pasha Kazi, member of the committee, former Taluka Nazim Latifabad, Abdul Jabbar, EDO Agriculture, Revenue, Revenue Magistrates and officers from lined departments attended the meeting.
