Youm-e-Ali: Sindh govt notifies bans
KARACHI: On the occasion of Youm-e-Ali (RA), the Sindh Government issued notifications on Thursday banning pillion riding for motorcycles and scooters, and the use of ‘heli-cams’.
The notification was issued after the Sindh police received credible reports of terrorist attacks in the major cities on the occasion and asked the provincial government to impose ban on pillion riding and mobile phone service for one day.
According to the notification, the ban will be effective from 12AM on Friday in Karachi and Hyderabad and will not be applicable to “women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, journalists, personnel of law enforcement agencies/ security agencies in uniform and employees of the essential services,” Geo News reported.
The Sindh Government has also banned the use of “Heli-cams” for video recording the processions to avoid “any untoward incident.”
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, District Municipal Corporations, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and city administration claimed to have finalized all arrangements for Youm-e-Ali.
Following the directives of Mayor Karachi District Chairmen, proper arrangements for lighting, adequate sanitation, and sufficient water supply in the city is being ensured.
