Wales Fire Services has gifted state-of-the-art fire engine which will be transported next week to Pakistan for use by the Karachi Fire Services. A presentation ceremony in this regard was held at the Pakistan High Commission here on Friday where High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hasan received the engine along with fire fighting kits said to be worth 50,000 pounds.
Andrew Thomas, Area Manager Operations, South Wales Fire Services, handed over the keys of the fire engine to the High Commissioner in the presence of senior officials of the Chancery.
Hasan thanked the South Wales Fire Services for this noble gesture and said the equipment will be a welcome addition to the Karachi Fire Brigade. He specially thanked Shahzada Hayat, Chairman, United International Community, for his efforts in arranging the delivery of the Mercedes Benz fire engine and said this reflected a close Pak-UK collaboration in social fields.
According to Thomas, four trainers would also proceed with the fire engine to Karachi to train the members of the city fire services on handling the sophisticated machine which has been equipped with a ladder able to reach up to four storey high building as well as to enhance their fire fighting skills.
