The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has booked Inspector Punjab Police, Ahmad Ali Goraya for extorting million of rupees fraudulently from innocent citizens, misusing power and obtaining remand of an accused for further investigation.
According to details, a resident of Muridke, Azhar Ali Bhatti lodged a complaint to ACE that Goraya obtained Rs 16 lakhs from him fraudulently when he was posted as the In charge Investigation, PS Muridke. He extorted the said amount to provide land on subsidised rates but did not do so and misusing his powers has refused to pay him back, alleged the complainant.
The allegations levelled against the Inspector were proved to be true during investigation and the ACE registered a case against him and sent challan for judicial action to the Anti-Corruption Court. Subsequently, the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court after hearing the detailed arguments of the ACE, rejected the bail application of the accused.
Later, especial raiding team, under Deputy Director ACE, Anees-ur-Rehman raided Achra and arrested Goraya. A number of fraud cases including extorting millions of rupees from innocent citizens, misuse of power and illegal gratification had already been registered against him at ACE Gujranwala and Lahore.
Investigations are underway, disclosed ACE authorities. Director General Anti-Corruption Establishment, Tariq Saleeem Dogar has directed the investigation staff to consolidate and transfer all the cases and inquiries against Goraya to ACE Headquarters so that the detailed investigations may be initiated.
