Indian sugar futures fell for a third session on Friday as a jump in supplies pushed down prices in the physical market. At 2:54 pm (0924 GMT), the September contract was down 1.68 percent at 1,698 rupees ($38.1) per 100 kg, while October futures had fallen 1.54 percent to 1,728 rupees.
Spot prices in Maharashtra, the country's largest sugar producing state, fell more than 1.25 percent to 1,777.5 rupees. Daily arrivals in the main spot market in Mumbai jumped to about 1,500 tonnes on each of Thursday and Friday, from less than about 600 tonnes last week, traders said.
