Air Chief Marshall Tanvir Mahmud has said PAF on its own could not take any decision against anybody, instead PAF at the back of the government and do not delay to retaliate against any attacks like aerial raids of Nato forces in the northern areas.
While talking to reporters here on Sunday on an inaugural ceremony of Fazaia College of Education and Teachers Training for Women (Pafwa), Air Chief Marshall Tanvir Mahmud said that "PAF is fully aware of its professional obligation and would not disappointed the nation in the need of hour". He said that government is negotiating on the diplomatic level regarding the Nato forces attack in the tribal area he added.
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest in the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that education is his passion as it is the only sector, which can make Pakistan a developed and prospers country. He said that the aim of progress and prosperity of the country could not be achieved without promotion of education. "We should move forward with dedication and make collective efforts on war footing for the promotion of education, however, the desired results cannot be achieved without strengthening primary education as it is the backbone of education sector" he added.
Begum Air Chief Marshal Tanvir and senior officers of Pakistan Air Force and a large number of teachers of the college were also present on the occasion. Moreover, he said that students of Aitchison or Grammar schools have access to Internet and they can fully benefit from this facility but it is beyond the reach of the students of Kasur, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah and other backward districts.
The Chief Minister said that revolutionary measures were being taken for the uplift of education sector in the province. He said that 288 model schools are being set up at Tehsil level at a cost of Rs 5 billion, adding that computers are being provided to more than four thousand schools of the province at a cost of billions of rupees.
He said that position-holders are being encouraged and they are being awarded gold medals and cash prizes. Similarly, he said, the government has decided to bear entire expenditure on the education of boys and girls position-holders in BA and BSc examination in Pakistan or abroad and an endowment fund with an amount of Rs one billion has been established for the purpose.
He lauded the services of Pakistan Air Force Women Association for the promotion of education and said that Punjab government will not only get benefit from the steps taken by PAFWA for the development of education and other sectors but would also extend all out co-operation to the implementation of its projects. He also paid tributes to the services of Begum Zareen Tanveer.
Earlier, Air Vice Marshal Waseem ud Din in his welcome address informed that Pakistan Air Force Women Association is playing an important role for the promotion of education and the entire credit of it goes Chairperson PAFWA Begum Zareen Tanveer.
He said that educational institutions of Pakistan Air Force are imparting education to more than 48,000 students in the country. The First Lady of Pakistan Air Force and Chairperson PAFWA, Begum Zareen Tanveer and Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mahmood Ahmad also presented a shield to the Chief Minister on this occasion.
