Jharoka Art Gallery (JAG) has showcased an exquisite collection of calligraphic art by Arif Khan reflecting true Islamic spirit. The artist has a unique distinction of writing the Quranic verses on leather by giving numerical shapes and geometrical motifs in his works.
Arif Khan previously used the medium of leather for calligraphy and now has changed his style by applying oil on canvas and Wasli (handmade paper), said Naheeda Raza, Director of JAG here on Monday while talking to APP. The exhibition started at the advent of Ramazan is attracting a large number of visitors and art lovers at the gallery and would continue till September 15, she added.
She said that "Inspired by spirituality, the artist has gone a long way in developing his own style." Using pure Islamic colours like turquoise, blue and gold, Arif Khan has tremendous flow of rhythm and movements in his work. A few example of calligraphic masterpieces include Asmaa-e-Rabi, Bismilla, Qul Shareef, Allah Hu, Al-Hamd Sharif, Al-Musawwir, Al-Bari, Allah Huma Labbaik, Rabbi-Sharah-Li and other Islamic concepts.
