Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA), S.M. Naseem has vehemently criticised the government move to observe two weekly holidays merely to conserve energy, which objective even if achieved, will hurt industry badly. Production will be reduced and its costs will increase further.
He said that industries are already facing production losses because of regular load shedding and intermittent electricity failure and it has become very difficult to meet export orders of the foreign buyers on time. Such dismal situation discourages the interested parties to make purchases from Pakistan. Not only exporting industries will suffer, local product industry will also suffer, causing further increase in prices.
Naseem added that instead of creating business friendly atmosphere in the country and to take steps to increase export, negative measures are being taken. New proposed steps will not yield any positive result and the business/production activities will be badly affected, he averred. Government may consider having weekly two holidays, only for government offices, excluding customs etc.
S.M. Naseem, Chairman, PTA appeals to the government to sincerely give up the idea of observing two weekly off days and closure of petrol pumps for one day in a week at the cost of export oriented business loss, as these steps will certainly damage the industrial growth and impede business acumen at last.-PR
