The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has on Thursday decided to fix the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at Rs 68 per kg and directed the LPG companies to increase its supply by 10 percent during the month of Ramazan.
According to a spokesman for CDGL, the companies would supply LPG at Rs 62 per kg to distributors, which would sell it to the consumers after adding its profit of Rs 6 per kg. This was decided in a meeting that was presided over by District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta and attended by LPG companies' representatives and distributors.
On the occasion, LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar said the decision would discourage the trend of profiteering, as LPG was being sold in Lahore between Rs 75 and Rs 85 per kg. The DCO also directed the LPG companies to intensify manufacturing of standard cylinders for two-stroke rickshaws.
