The Lahore High Court sought "proposed issues" from both parties in a petition filed by a PPP candidate Lala Shakil-ur-Rehman against the election of a PML-N candidate Dr Ashraf Chohan from PP-92, Gujranwala.
Lala Shekil-ur-Rehman of PPP challenged the election of Dr Chohan of PML-N accusing him of concealing his assets while submitting his statement before the election commission. The petitioner said he had objected the same before the returning officer but no action was taken against the respondent.
He pleaded that by concealing the assets, the respondent violated the code of conduct of elections, so he should be declared disqualified.
According to the results, petitioner was runner up candidate so he should be declared as returned candidate. The court has directed both the parties to submit their "proposed issues" on September 16, the next date of hearing.
