Attorney General of Pakistan, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa has said that PPP would get the constitutional package passed after getting two-third majority in the parliament. Talking to reporters at Multan Airport here on Friday night on his first ever visit to his home city after becoming AGP, Khosa said that it was first time in the 61-year history of Pakistan that the country's Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Attorney General belonged to Multan.
He said that constitutional package had been sent to the leadership of all allied parties. To a question about the restoration of judiciary, Khosa said that after being elected as Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered immediate release of the deposed judges and later their salaries were paid to them. Now the deposed judges in Punjab, Sindh and NWFP are doing their duties, he added.
To another question regarding the reinstatement of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the AGP said Law Minister had clearly stated government's position regarding the restoration of Iftikhar Chaudhry. Being Attorney General he can't say anything about the restoration of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, he added.
"The PPP can not get passed the package on its own as it does not have two-third majority in the parliament", he said adding after getting the required numbers of votes PPP would get passed the package from parliament. Earlier, Sardar Latif Khosa was received by local PPP leaders and workers on his arrival at Multan Airport.
