District Consumer Court Judge Maruf Ahmedali has directed the PTCL authorities to restore land line within ten days and refund line rent of 19 months amounting Rs 4,560 along with costs of Rs 10,000 to a consumer Muhammad Ishaq Khan. The petitioner submitted that he got installed a telephone connection at his residence at Walton Road Lahore.
He said since the installation of connection it remained out of order and despite several complaints his connection could not be restored but even then he had been paying monthly bill in protest. The petitioner submitted that in September 2007 he filed an application before PTCL authorities to restore his connection and refund his previous amount taken from him.
Moreover he also sent a legal notice to PTCL but it did not respond. He prayed to the court to direct the respondent to refund line rent of 19 months with cost of the case. The judge after hearing arguments of both parties held that the connection was out of order for 19 months, therefore, the petitioner was entitled to refund of the line rent of Rs 4560 along with costs of the case amounting to Rs 10,000 besides restoring the telephone number of the petitioner.
