On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, 1.485 million deserving people have been identified under Food Support Scheme in 297 constituencies in Punjab and 5000 poor families from each constituency have been chosen to benefit from Punjab Food Support Scheme.
Similarly, 315,000 deserving people are being selected through 66 women MPAs and eight minority MPAs so that they could also play their due role in this noble cause.
According to a spokesman of Industries Department, 0.4 million families are being provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each since August 14 through money orders in the first phase while 0.6 million deserving people would benefit in the second phase starting from September 15.
The spokesman said that financial assistance of Rs 1.8 billion per month is being provided to deserving people. It is worth mentioning here that Rs 22 billion have been earmarked for providing relief to the poor citizens under Food Stamp Scheme and 1.8 million poor families would benefit from this scheme.
