The Executive body of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) here on Saturday issued details of the upcoming election to be held on October 28. The election schedule is as under: Last date of acquiring life membership and clearance of dues by regular Members, 25-09-2008, Publication of provisional list of eligible voters, 29-09-2008.
Filling of objection, 30-09-2008, Decision of objections, 06-10-2008, Decision of objections, 08-10-2008, Filling of nomination papers in the offices of SCBA at, Islamabad and Lahore from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, 11 to 14-10-08 Scrutiny of nomination papers, hearing of objection and 16-10-2008, decision thereon, Issuance of list of candidates, 16-10-2008.
Filling of appeals against acceptance and Rejection of, 17-10-2008, nomination papers, Hearing of appeals and decision thereon,18-10-2008, Withdrawal of candidature, 20-10-2008, Issuance of final list of candidates, 21-10-2008, holding of election and un-official count of votes, 28-10-2008.
Official counting of votes / Notification. 31-10-2008. Only those members will be entitled to vote in the elections who are either life members or members who clear their dues by 25-09-2008. However, the members who do not have the Life Membership may have the option to acquire life membership by 25-09-2008, on payment of Rs 6,000, says a press release.
